Description
The Mbabane-based Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has a long history dating back to its birth in 1968. The year was a defining one, as it saw the birth of the EFA, and consequently, Swaziland becoming an independent state after doing away with British colonialism. In his capacity as a president during this formative period, the late Harry Sibhaha Dlamini headed the organization.

Evolution of Organized Football in Eswatini
It would be another five years after its establishment when the first football league was formed, which marked an important aspect of its sporting heritage.
International Affiliation
The EFA joined hands with several global bodies to facilitate its participation in international soccer. The association had already become a member of FIFA and CAF by the year 1978. This move made it possible for Swaziland to be recognized internationally and associated with other African football nations.
Regional Involvement and Membership
he growing reputation and influence of EFA also saw it stretch itself into regional football. COSAFA, Council of Southern African Football Associations’s formation included ESwatini as one among its founding members in 1983 thus showing that the country was determined to promote football within Southern Africa.
Organizational Development
The end of the millennium witnessed significant changes in the structure of EFA. The Association appointed its first ever Chief Executive Officer/General Secretary, Mr. Adam Mthethwa in 2000. This was an important move aimed at professionalising football management in Swaziland thus giving job to a full time officer to run the Secretariat.
